Come and spend a day creating your own weaving, celebrating colour and texture. You will learn the basics of weaving on a simple table-top wooden frame loom, using a bodkin needle to weave with. You will be able to build up colour, tone and texture and come away with your own hand made creative weaving, which you can display as a wall hanging. There will be pieces of driftwood for you to choose from to hang it on, or you may like to beach comb for your own. All materials will be provided, including coloured yarn, some of it from local Welsh sheep, as well as mixed media including interesting threads, recycled fabrics, ribbons, wools tops, beads and buttons to select from and incorporate into your weaving. You are welcome to bring any of your own favourite wool, threads and mixed media that you'd like to add to your creation.
This workshop is suitable for beginners, as well as those with some experience who want to experiment further. There will be plenty of visual resources to help inspire you, including imagery by other weavers. You will be given an information sheet with some historical context and weaving terminology, as well as links to weaving resources.
The images above are of sections of my own weavings. You can see images from other workshops on my Gallery page. There are a maximum of 10 places available and booking is essential. Children age 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Well behaved children age 13 and over are welcome. For any further enquiries about the course, you can contact me.
