Saturday October 5th 2024 10am - 4.00pm Stiwdio 3, Aberteifi/Cardigan
Come and spend a day creating your own weaving. You will have the opportunity to learn a variety of weaving techniques and be able to practice them on a simple table top wooden frame loom, using a bodkin needle to weave with. This will be a day of building up colour, tone and texture and you will come away with your own hand made creative weaving, which you can display as a wall hanging. There will be pieces of driftwood for you to choose from to hang it on, or you may like to find your own.
All materials will be provided, so there will be a selection of coloured wool, interesting threads and fabrics for you to choose from, as well as mixed media such as beads, buttons and shells. You are welcome to bring any of your own favourite wool, threads etc.
This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those with some experience, if you want to practice techniques and build up ideas. There will be plenty of visual resources to help inspire you, including imagery by other weavers. You will be given an information sheet with some historical context and weaving terminology, as well as links to weaving resources. The image above with the hands is from a previous workshops I have taught and the other two images are my own weavings. You can see more images from previous workshops on my Gallery page.
Stiwdio 3 is a lovely upstairs studio space, with a café downstairs and will be open for drinks, light refreshments and a delicious lunch that you can buy.
